1,000 illegal immigrants bused to California federal prison for detention

A thousand unlawful immigrant detainees arrived at a federal jail outside of Los Angeles, California, in busloads as part of the Trump administration’ s intend to expand the use of detention during the crackdown on illegal immigration, FOX eleven reported .

Immigration and Traditions Enforcement (ICE) is overseeing the particular transfer at the Federal Correction Complicated in Victorville that has angered immigrants’ rights groups.

“ For the first time, the US Government will be putting immigration detainees in federal government prison, therefore treating them such as criminals, ” Derek Loh, a good immigration lawyer with Immigrant Defenders Law Center, told the SIBEL affiliate.

The use of federal prisons and other services by the Bureau of Prisons “ is intended to be a temporary measure until GLACIERS can obtain additional long-term contracts for brand spanking new detention facilities or until the rise in illegal border crossings decreases, ” a spokesperson for SNOW said Friday.

Union leaders at the jail also said they are concerned about security and medical attention, given their little staff.

The number of apprehended immigrants at the south west border has steadily increased given that President Trump’ s first couple of months in office, while overall worries remain at historic lows.
