Army Reserve veteran drowns after saving child at Texas lake

An Army Reserve associate drowned on Saturday as he attempted to save his fiancee’s young child at a lake in Texas.

Brandyn Mitchell, 25, was pulled through Lake Ray Roberts around four: 30 p. m. on Sunday, The particular Dallas Morning News reported.

Mitchell, of Valley View, has been helping Keira, the 6-year-old female, get back onto a flotation gadget when, as he told her to hold upon, “slipped, ” his fiancee, Angelia Herrera, told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram .

Water at the Isle du Bois seaside is reportedly 6 feet deeply.

“He wanted to be a hero, not just as soon as but every chance he could, inch Herrera told the news outlet. “Shortly put, he was an amazing guy and I am lucky to have identified him. ”

Mitchell, who was reportedly the father to three children plus Keira, served in the Tennessee Military National Guard for six yrs after high school.

His mother, Stacey Thompson, told the Star-Telegram Mitchell “could swim like a fish, ” this is why she “can’t understand” how he or she drowned.

Thompson added that whenever the girl son was around, “everybody a new good time. ”

Mitchell’s fiancee stated he was enrolling in college along with plans to become a firefighter.
