‘Black Panther’ Hits $1 Billion Mark In Worldwide Box Office Numbers

“ Black Panther” has overtaken $1 billion at the worldwide package office, challenging industry norms regarding films with black casts.

The Marvel blockbuster passed the major standard on Friday , Forbes reviews.

The film is now the Usa States’   ninth domestically highest-grossing film   of all time, and had the second-largest four-day household opening weekend . “ Dark Panther” brought in  $242 million in the U. S.   over Presidents Day weekend, at the rear of the $288 million  “ Superstar Wars: The Force Awakens” produced when it opened in 2015.

The international success of “ Black Panther” has challenged the misconception that films along with predominantly black casts don’ big t sell  ― and it helps unravel “ unwritten Hollywood rules, ” Jeff Bock, a senior expert at entertainment research firm Exhibitor Relations,   told The New York Times .

“ I think about this like a wall crumbling, ” Bock said. “ In terms of ‘ Dark Panther, ’ no studio may say again, ’ Oh, dark movies don’ t travel, abroad interest will be minimal. ’ ”

Stars of the movie, including Chadwick Boseman, Lupita Nyong’ o and Danai Gurira, have got spoken out about the importance of portrayal in the movie. “ Black Panther, ” which is set in the imaginary country of Wakanda, shows the options of an African society untouched simply by colonialism and gender inequity.

“ I think there’ s a thirst for these pictures, ” Boseman told NBC . “ There’ s a real thirst meant for black superheroes. ”

Wonder Studios President Kevin Feige verified this week that a “ Black Panther” follow up is in the functions. Feige  informed Entertainment Weekly   there was “ nothing specific in order to reveal” about the next movie yet added that “ we definitely will do that. ”
