Boy, 13, regains consciousness after parents sign papers to donate his organs

A 13-year-old boy who had been said to be brain dead defied chances when he regained consciousness right after his parents had signed documents to donate his organs.

Trenton McKinley, of Mobile, Ala., had been hospitalized two months ago after a little utility trailer he was in turned over.

“ I hit the cement and the trailer landed on top of me. After that, I don’t remember everything, ” Trenton told FOX10.

Trenton experienced seven skull fractures from the incident. His parents recalled doctors stating their son “ would never become normal again. ”

“ All I could see was a stretcher with his feet going out. He was dead a total associated with 15 minutes, ” Trenton’ s mom, Jennifer Reindl, told FOX10. “ When he came back, they said he’d never be normal again. These people told me the oxidation problems will be so bad to his human brain, that he would be a vegetable if he or she even made it. ”

Trenton remained human brain dead and was barely getting the days following the crash. His mom ultimately decided to sign papers in order to donate Trenton’ s organs that could benefit five children who required transplants.

“Five kids needed organs that will matched him, ” Reindl mentioned. “ It was unfair to keep getting him back, because it was simply damaging his organs even more. inch

Per day before doctors were going to consider Trenton off of life support, the particular 13-year-old began showing signs of mind activity and movement. Trenton started breathing on his own and woke upward speaking full sentences in late Mar, his mother wrote on a Facebook fundraising page .

Trenton still has a lengthy road to recovery and experiences nerve pain and daily seizures. He has had three brain surgical procedures and will have another procedure in order to reconnect the missing piece of their skull.

Trenton said he believes this individual went to heaven before he returned to life.

“I was in an open field strolling straight, ” Trenton recalled. “There’s no other explanation but God. There is other way. Even doctors mentioned it. ”
