Some 30 boys have used skirts to school in demonstration at being told they were not allowed to put on shorts.

The students from ISCA Academy in Exeter asked permission to modify their consistent because of the hot weather.

One of the boys who took component in the protest said: “We’re prohibited to wear shorts, and I’m not really sitting in trousers all day, may bit hot. ”

Head teacher Aimee Mitchell mentioned shorts were “not part” from the school uniform, as first documented by Devon Live .

Students said the idea for the protest originated from the head teacher, who originally produced the suggestion, although one college student said he did not think the lady was being serious.

Someone said they hoped the school would reexamine its shorts policy as a result of the particular protest and the head has pointed out it might be considered.

Ms Mitchell said: “We recognise that the final few days have been exceptionally hot and are doing our utmost to enable each students and staff to remain because comfortable as possible.

“Shorts are not currently part of our own uniform for boys and I may not want to make any changes without contacting both students and their families.

“However, with hotter climate becoming more normal, I would be pleased to consider a change for the future. ”

Claire Reeves, whose boy is a student at the school, mentioned she had asked the school regarding her son being able to wear pants, but was “shot down”.

“I feel extremely proud of all of them for standing up for their rights. Individuals are always talking about equal right for men and women and school uniform shouldn’t be any kind of different”, she said.

The school uniform guidelines currently allow male pupils to put on trousers. Female pupils may use trousers or tartan skirts.

Pupils may remove their particular ties but must carry associated with them and shirts can be untucked in class but must be hidden in when they leave the class room.
