Chris Evans pays tribute to ‘incredible mum’

BBC Radio stations 2 presenter Chris Evans provides paid tribute to his “incredible” mother Minnie, after finding out the lady had died aged 92, right before he went on air.

Sports reporter Vassos Alexander walked in to host Evans’ breakfast display on Thursday, reading a declaration to explain the presenter’s absence.

“I needed to go directly back home to be with the family, inch Evans said.

“But it’s all OK, in fact it is rather OK. Mum needed to be at serenity, ” said Evans, who guaranteed to return on Friday.

“She was an incredible woman, anybody who’s ever met her can confirm that. And ultimately there was simply no battle lost, only a life earned every single day, ” he continued.

“If Mum had the very first idea I might not have shown upward today because of her, she would have already been furious. ”

At the end of the breakfast show, Alexander thanked the “thousands of” audience who had sent Evans nicely wishes.

“We can of course pass them on to Philip and his family, ” he stated as he handed over to Ken Bruce at 08: 30 BST.

Bruce, who began his morning display an hour earlier than usual, praised Alexander for filling in at short observe.

“Dear old Bob has suffered a bereavement in his household, ” he told his audience. “We’re all wishing him the most effective. ”

Good morning everybody. The reason I’m not with you nowadays is because just before we came upon air my mum passed away and am needed to go straight back home to become with the family. But it’s every OK, in fact it’s very OK. Mother needed to be at peace.

Moreover, she deserved to be from peace. We’ve been ready for this for quite a while now and, as she has all through her life, in death she has brought us together. She has been an incredible woman.

Anybody who’s ever met her can confirm that and ultimately there was no fight lost, only a life won. Each day. I’ll be back tomorrow.
