Colin Firth gets Italian citizenship

British acting professional Colin Firth has become an Italian language citizen, the country’s authorities possess confirmed.

Their wife – film producer Livia Giuggioli – is Italian, producing the Oscar-winning Bridget Jones superstar eligible for citizenship there.

The 56-year-old now has double citizenship and can therefore keep their British passport.

Firth said he had applied for an Italian language passport because of “the uncertainty around”.

The actor declared that he has been connected to Italy “for more than two decades now”.

“I was married presently there and had two children born within Rome, ” he added.

He said that their wife was applying for a Uk passport also, and both their children have dual citizenship.

He added: “We never really thought much about various passports.

“But now, with some of the uncertainty close to, we thought it sensible that individuals should all get the same. ”

The Italian language interior ministry, which confirmed Firth had been granted a passport, mentioned: “The very famous actor, which won an Oscar for the movie The King’s Speech, is wedded to a citizen from our country and it has often declared his love for the land. ”

Firth, who won best actor in the 2011 Oscars for his characterization of King George in The King’s Speech, has been married since 1997.

He added: “I will always be extremely British (you simply have to look at or listen to me).

“Britain is the home and we love it here. inch

He said that he can continue to base his career out from the UK, but added: “Anyone can confirm when you marry an Italian you don’t need to just marry one person; you get married to a family and perhaps an entire country.

“Like almost everybody I have a enthusiastic love of Italy and becoming a member of my wife and kids in getting dual citizens will be a huge freedom. ”
