Cuban airline jet crashes at Havana airport, reports say

A Boeing 737 plane operated by condition airline Cubana crashed after removing from Jose Marti International Airport within Havana on Friday and 3 passengers were said to have made it in critical condition, local mass media reported.

The surviving passengers happen to be brought to the hospital, according to local paper Granma .

Local media reported the airline flight from Havana to Holguin, the city in eastern Cuba, acquired 104 passengers and nine team members on board.

The plane lay in a farm industry and appeared heavily damaged plus burnt.

Government officials including President Miguel Diaz-Canel rushed to the site, and also a large number of emergency medical workers plus ambulances.

“There has been an unfortunate modern aviation accident, ” Diaz-Canal said, based on the  BBC . “The news is not really very promising, it seems that there is a large number of victims. ”

Residents of the countryside area said they had seen a few survivors being taken away in ambulances.

Movie from the scene showed dark plumes of smoke billowing from the accident site. Firefighters could be seen bringing out water on the smoldering remains.

The plane has been rented from Blue Panorama simply by Cubana, which has taken many of the aging planes out of service recently due to mechanical problems.

Cubana is known simply by locals for consistently having gaps and cancellations, which the airline qualities to a lack of airplanes and components because of the American trade embargo upon Cuba.

Friday’s crash marked the third main deadly accident for Cuba considering that 2010.
