Justice Department Inspector Common Michael Horowitz says he has completed his long-awaited report detailing their review of the FBI and DOJ’ s Hillary Clinton investigation throughout the 2016 presidential election.
In a letter in order to members of Congress on Wed, Horowitz does not say when the evaluation will be officially released to the F, DOJ and congressional committees.
But the inspector general said he has provided the draft report to the Department as well as the FBI, and requested that they evaluation it to identify any information that should be secured from disclosure.
“ Additionally , in line with our usual process, we have questioned the Department and FBI to supply us with any comments they will wish us to consider regarding the report’ s accuracy and completeness, ” Horowitz wrote in his letter in order to lawmakers.
For more than a year, Horowitz continues to be reviewing the FBI and DOJ’ s actions related to its analysis into Clinton’ s use of a personal email server while she has been secretary of state.
Horowitz’ s analysis has looked at a variety of allegations, which includes whether it was improper for previous FBI Director James Comey to create a public announcement about not suggesting prosecution over the Clinton email agreement.
Horowitz’ s review has already put best FBI official Andrew McCabe within legal jeopardy. The Justice Department’ s internal watchdog sent the criminal referral for McCabe within April to the U. S. attorney’ s office in Washington.
Which was in response to Horowitz’ s finding that McCabe leaked information to the press in regards to the investigation and later lied about this to Comey and federal researchers, prompting Attorney General Jeff Periods to fire him in March.
Horowitz published in his letter to Congress which he is “ making relevant servings of the draft report available for evaluation and comment” by those evaluated in the probe and those whose carry out is addressed in the report.
He mentioned they will allow the DOJ and F to submit a formal composed letter to be attached to the final survey before releasing it.
“ We are going to updated you on the specific time for the report’ s release, and am will be prepared to provide a briefing plus testify publically about our choosing and conclusions as soon as the report can be release, ” Horowitz said.
Some of the report on McCabe experienced already been released to Congress.
