EU nurses ‘turning their backs on UK’

The drop in EU nurses and midwives wanting to work in the UK since the referendum is continuing, figures show.

The trend was first noticed recording , and now a new batch associated with figures released by the Nursing plus Midwifery Council have reinforced the concept Brexit is having an impact.

In September the register demonstrated just over 36, 200 EU healthcare professionals and midwives – over two, 700 less than a year before.

But ministers said an increase in training places would make up for the drop.
