Female cop in ICU after getting stabbed in the throat, suspect charged, police say

A Connecticut officer is fighting for her life right after she was stabbed in the tonsils while investigating a disturbance Thursday night morning, officials said.

Hartford law enforcement Deputy Chief Brian Foley mentioned the stabbing occurred at about ten: 10 a. m. at Spectra Boutique Apartments. He said the feminine officer was trying to handcuff a lady during an eviction.

The unidentified official was taken to a nearby medical center in critical condition.

She was stabbed in a jugular vein, the Hartford Courant reported.

Foley tweeted Thursday evening that the officer is at the intensive care unit plus “in critical/stable condition. ”

During an earlier information conference at Hartford Hospital, authorities said she had undergone surgical procedure, according to the Courant.

Foley also said “the accused has been charged with Tried Murder. ”

A 39-year-old woman is at custody and taken to a medical center to be treated for hand accidental injuries, police said. It’s unclear exactly how she was injured.

The name of the suspect is not released.

Foley said two maintenance employees nearby “ heard a struggle within the other room. They saw the girl stabbing her in the throat. ” He called the workers heroes.

“She’s challenging, ” Foley said. “She’s already been here a long time. Everyone loves her. There is certainly some emotion on the scene obviously. ”

Mayor Luke Bronin also  tweeted about the stabbing and asked for the particular public’s “thoughts and prayers. inch

“ This morning, a Hartford Police Officer continual severe stab wounds while in the type of duty, ” he said. “ She is in critical condition and we’ll update the public later today. We all ask the entire Hartford community to help keep the officer in their thoughts plus prayers. ”

Bronin had gone to the hospital in which the officer is, Fox 61 reported.

Connecticut Gov. Dan Malloy also tweeted saying, “Our prayers are using the HPD officer who was injured within the line of duty this morning. We are delivering our best wishes to her for a fast recovery. ”
