Few red flags showed up for Texas school shooting suspect, officials say

Area experienced another tragic school capturing Friday in Santa Fe, Tx, but unlike the previous ones, there was very few red flags, according to authorities.

Dimitrios Pagourtzis, the 17-year-old suspect, has been held without bond in the Galveston County jail on charges associated with capital murder. He used their father’ s Remington 870 shotgun and. 38 caliber pistol within the attack that left 10 lifeless and 10 wounded at Santa claus Fe High School, according to a possible cause affidavit and complaint billed against him.

“Unlike Parkland, unlike Sutherland Springs, there were not those varieties of warning signs, ” Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said at a news meeting Friday night. “ The red-flag warnings were either nonexistent or even very imperceptible. ”

Abbott was talking about the Feb. 14 Parkland, California, school shooting that killed seventeen people, where law enforcement – through FBI to the Broward County Sheriff’ s Office – was accused associated with ignoring several guidelines and warning signs surrounding shooting believe Nikolas Cruz, as well as the shooting  that will killed 26 people in Nov inside a church in a town close to San Antonio.

Pagourtzis had recently published a picture of a T-shirt reading “ Born to Kill” on his Fb page and he followed a number of balances on Instagram like “ sickguns” and “ gunspictures, ” Abbott said, but classmates described Pagourtzis as a quiet, avid video game gamer who routinely wore a dark trench coat and black boots in order to class. He quit playing soccer on the school’ s junior college squad last fall and danced as part of a church group.

According to the affidavit, Pagourtzis told investigators “ he or she did not shoot students he do like so he could have their story told, ” and specialists found journals on his phone plus computer saying he was about to commit suicide after carrying out the particular shooting.

Those who know him expressed surprise that he might be involved in the massacre.

Michael Farina, 17, grew up with Pagourtzis plus said he would play video games along with him. He recalled Pagourtzis understood a lot about guns and recalled him asking which gun this individual should get when he had been older.

“I’m kind of dumbfounded, ” Farina said. “ We didn’t obtain any warning. ”
