Grammar and faith schools to expand

Sentence structure schools in England are being given the opportunity to create thousands of new places within a trimmed-down selective school expansion program.

The expanded totally selective schools will have to set out programs to admit disadvantaged pupils, probably by lowering the entrance specifications.

It comes after Theresa May’s scheme for a new influx of grammars was abandoned because of lack of Parliamentary support.

Plans for new faith schools are also announced.

But instead of creating it easier for religious organizations to open free schools, ministers can invite councils to open faith institutions jointly with religious groups, as they did in the past.

As with some other faith schools in the state field, they will be allowed to recruit 100% associated with pupils from particular faith organizations.
