Hurricane Irma literally sucks away Bahamas shoreline

Storm Irma is so strong, it is actually changing the coastline in some places.

Twitter user @Kaydi_K witnessed this particular phenomenon firsthand, sharing on social networking an extraordinary video that showed the particular ocean floor completely exposed upon Long Island in the Bahamas.

“ I am in shock right now… This is Long Island, Bahamas and the ocean water is lacking!!! ” she wrote on Fri.

The bizarre and somewhat eerie video is a result of the hurricane’ ersus low pressure and sheer power, causing surrounding waters to be drawn into its core, the Washington Submit reported.

It may be a case of the hurricane “ bulge” effect, stated Angela Fritz, deputy weather publisher for the Post, in which very low stress in the center of the storm acts as a stroking mechanism, drawing in air plus pulling water from the surrounding region.

Although the Tsunami Information Center warns receding waters are typically the precursor to a tsunami, the Write-up reports that is not the case in this instance.

Instead, the particular Long Island shoreline that was hidden away with Hurricane Irma had been expected to gradually return to Long Tropical isle on Sunday afternoon, without excellent force.

Hurricane Irma struck the Bahamas on Friday, as it made the way toward Florida, where meteorologists predicted it would hit the Tips on Sunday morning

The storm can be then predicted to hug the particular state’s west coast, plowing to the Tampa Bay area by Mon morning.
