Kanye West Calls Slavery A Choice, Gets Schooled On History

Kanye West   fallen by TMZ on Tuesday to tell the newsroom employees that he loves President Donald Trump and that he believes slavery “ sounds like a choice, ” only to obtain completely shut down by writer Vehicle Lathan.  

“ When you learn about slavery for 400 years… designed for 400 years? That sounds like an option, ” West said.

“ Such as, you was there for four hundred years and it’ s all y’ all? It’ s such as we’ re mentally in jail. I like the word ‘ prison’ since slavery goes too direct towards the idea of blacks. It’ s such as slavery, Holocaust. Holocaust, Jews. Captivity is blacks. So , prison can be something that unites us as one competition. Blacks and whites being a single race. We’ re the human competition, ” he continued.

In the little from “ TMZ Live, ” West is shown asking the whole newsroom:   “ Do you feel that will I’ m feeling… do you feel that will I’ m being free plus I’ m thinking free? ”

That’ s when Lathan hopped up and said he didn’ t think West was considering anything.

“ I think what you’ re doing right now is actually the particular absence of thought and the reason why Personally i think like that is because, Kanye, you’ lso are entitled to your opinion, ” mentioned Lathan.

The sportswriter and podcast web host   then explained exactly what it’ s like being a dark man when you’ re not really famous or creatively talented such as Kanye West:

You’ re entitled to believe anything you want, but there is fact plus real world, real life consequence behind all you just said. And while you are producing music and being an artist plus living the life that you’ ve earned by being a genius, average folks in society have to deal with these risks to our lives. We have to deal with the particular marginalization that has come from the four hundred years of slavery that you said for the people was a choice.

Lathan said he had not been only “ disappointed” and “ appalled, ” but also hurt: “ I am unbelievably hurt by the idea that you have morphed into something, in my experience, that is not real. ”

The video ends with Lathan insisting that will West be responsible and Western apologizing profusely. HuffPost reached out in order to Lathan for further comment and failed to immediately get a response.
