Longtime Spurs fans ‘turned off’ by coach Gregg Popovich’s anti-Trump comments, report says

Once-dedicated followers of the NBA’s seventh-seed San Antonio Spurs are increasingly spurning the particular team because of its head coach’s virulent  anti-Trump comments, according to a new statement.

Little league veteran Gregg Popovich, 69, continues to be particularly outspoken about the new Whitened House,   calling Trump a “coward”   and a “pathological liar” who will be “unfit intellectually, emotionally, and mentally. ”

In March,   Popovich asked whether the Second Amendment is “useful” any longer, and said Trump “brings out the dark side associated with human beings” — criticisms that lots of of the Spurs faithful took individually.

“ I am completely turned off, ” Spurs ex-fan Cassandra Casanova, 65, told  The Wa Post . “After all those many years supporting the team, and now I simply have no interest. Popovich really smudged. ”

Casanova claimed she donated a large number of team t-shirts and other merchandise in order to charity, and simply ignored the team’s playoff opener defeat against the  Golden State Warriors in Oakland.

“ That’ s how angry I acquired. It ruined my basketball living, ” she added. “ We took it personally. I was this kind of loyal fan, and he insulted me personally. Why would you start attacking people who had been so loyal? ”

Another experienced Spurs fan interviewed by the document said he was particularly peeved by Popovich’s obstinance.

“ I usually curse Pop for doing exactly what he did. ”

“ I often curse Pop meant for doing what he did, ” said Bob Mulherin. “ This individual insulted more than half of the Spurs’ following, and no sign whatsoever of an apology. ”

Asked about the article by a reporter previously this week,   Popovich said this individual did not “care” about its items. He emphasized that the Spurs company has never told him to state of mind his outspoken political beliefs.

Reaction throughout social media included harsh criticisms from the fans quoted by the paper, which includes one article at a  prominent liberal sports activities blog   that known as them “fools” for supporting the particular president at all.
