Louisiana oil rig explodes, at least 7 injured

At least seven people are wounded and one person is missing right after an oil rig exploded Weekend night in Louisiana.

Kenner Mouthpiece Chief  Administrative Officer Kriss Fortunato said that at least seven people were hurt and authorities were actively looking for one missing person, The Times-Picayune reported.

Officials from the St . Charles Parish wrote on Facebook that “The Emergency Operations Middle is aware that an oil platform happens to be on fire in Lake Pontchartrain which it caused the loud audio earlier tonight. Officials are reacting. ”

The U. S. Coast Safeguard is also responding, according to a  Facebook post   from the Jefferson Parish.

Rescue boats are being sent from the Kenner Boat Launch plus officials with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office are assisting with save efforts, The Times-Picayune reported.

Mike Guillot, director of East Jefferson Crisis Medical Services said that the two people brought in are in stable condition  however the other five brought to the College Medical Center are in critical condition with  “blast type injuries and can burn, ” the Times-Picayune reported.  

Toby Love, who lives about ten blocks away from the explosion, informed The Times-Picayune that his “house actually shook. ”

“At first I thought it was the sonic boom or something, inch Love said. “I had no clue what was happening. ”

Roger Fernandez stated the explosion “shook me from my couch. ”

The rig, based on The brand new Orleans Advocate , is operated simply by CLOVELLY Oil.

Lake Pontchartrain is approximately a 30-minute drive north associated with North Orleans.
