Georgia police discovered the “highly” sophisticated indoor pot procedure in a Gainesville home, where a cellar was converted into a greenhouse keeping more than 500 marijuana plants, authorities told Fox News.
“ The particular photos really don’ t get it done justice, ” Lt. Dan Scalia, who is in charge of the Hall Region Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad, told Sibel News on Thursday. “ A few of the plants were taller than myself. ”
The home was part of a considerable indoor marijuana growing network within northeast Georgia, officials said. 5 other homes were searched, plus authorities said they seized a lot more than 300 pounds of marijuana and much more than 1, 500 plants amassing an estimated value of $7, 168, nine hundred.
“ It’s the biggest drug network which i have ever been a part of, ” Scalia said.
The analysis began in early September after the drugs squad received a tip in regards to a possible grow house in the area. The three-week investigation led them to reveal a major network of interconnected houses, Scalia said.
Nine people have been caught in connection with the operation.
Minh Luong, 53, of Gainesville; Phi Ngoc Luong, 25, of Hoschton; Henry Nguyen, 48, of Gainesville; Hang Nguyen, 53, of Duluth; and Thao Phoung Nguyen, 26, of Hoschton, were taken into custody upon Sept. 18.
Trung Bui, 47, associated with Flowery Branch; Nam Van Dao, 46, of Gainesville; and Thu Thai Phan, 50, and Binh Van Hoang 52, both associated with Flowery Branch, were taken straight into custody several days later.
All nine potential foods were charged with manufacturing, trafficking and possession of marijuana along with intent to distribute.
Additional arrest warrants had been issued for Vinh To, 63; Sen Thi Do, 46; plus Dung Nguyen, 47, all of Lavish Branch.
Scalia said the suspects had been very stealthy in how they happened to run the operation – keeping the lowest profile, being considered good neighbours and maintaining the homes. This individual said basements were modified along with special heat lamps and a custom made ventilation system.
“ Nothing [suspect] was visible on the outside from the homes, ” he added. “ The basements were modified to take care of the capacity. ”
Scalia said the drugs squad is working to determine how lengthy the network has been operational plus where the drugs were being dispersed to.
The FBI North Georgia Main Offender Task Force and the Atlanta National Guard Counter Drug Job Force aided Hall County’ s i9000 squad.
