Man drives SUV into North Carolina restaurant, killing 2; police call it ‘domestic’ incident

A man within North Carolina allegedly rammed his VEHICLE into a restaurant on Sunday, eliminating his daughter and daughter-in-law who had been dining inside, investigators said.

Katelyn Self, a deputy with the Gaston County Sheriff’s Office, was slain at the Surf and Turf Villa in Bessemer City, officials introduced at a news conference Sunday mid-day. The second woman who died has been identified by Fox 46 as Amanda Self.

Investigators said that 62-year-old Roger Self, Katelyn Self’s father, plus reportedly Amanda Self’s father-in-law, went right into the restaurant — evidently on purpose.

The Gaston Gazette documented that restaurant staff claimed Roger Self went with his family towards the restaurant and had them seated. The daddy then allegedly went outside plus purposely drove his Jeep in to the building.

Roger Self, 62, was caught and booked at the county prison on two charges of first-degree murder.   (Gaston County Sheriff’s Office)

Bessemer City Police Chief Tom Ellis said an officer who came on scene saw Self’s VEHICLE “completely in the building” just after midday on Sunday.

It’s ambiguous how many people were seated at the eating place table, but police said “several others” were hurt. Paramedics hurried them to two nearby hospitals.

Roger Personal was arrested and booked in the Gaston County Jail on 2 first-degree murder charges, police information show. He’s scheduled to appear within court on Monday.
