Manhunt in Maryland for suspects in killing of Baltimore police officer

An intense manhunt involving airplane and trained dogs is underway Tuesday in a greater Baltimore region after a female officer was slain by four suspects believed to be equipped and dangerous.

Three elementary schools had been kept on alert status for hours, along with students and teachers told in which to stay their school buildings as law enforcement continued a search for the suspects. Yet by Monday evening, parents had been allowed to come to the schools to get their youngsters.

School officials tweeted over night that all Baltimore County public educational institutions would open on time Tuesday.
