Missouri police officer killed, 2 others wounded in shooting; suspect dead

A Missouri police officer has been killed and two other officials were wounded Tuesday night following a shooter opened fire from inside a house — at least the 18th official to have died in the line of responsibility since the start of 2018.

The particular suspected shooter was found deceased inside the home, located about seventy five miles outside Kansas City, Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. Expenses Lowe said at a news meeting early Wednesday.

Clinton County 911 middle received a call late Wednesday where two women could be noticed screaming in the background. Clinton law enforcement officers responded to the home and were fulfilled with gunfire.

Lowe said the mysterious suspect shot the officers in the home. The officers went within to try and apprehend the suspect, who seem to then shot and killed a good officer, identified as Christopher Ryan Morton, 30, and wounded two additional officers.

It’ s unclear the way the suspect died.

The injured officers, who were not identified, had been taken to the hospital. One suffered small injuries and the other had reasonable injuries, police said.

It is the second Clinton police officer to die in the type of duty in the last seven months, in accordance to  FOX4 KC .

“ It’ s a little department, ” Lowe said. “ It’ s small enough you know each individual officer and the community understands each individual officer, and it’ ersus hard to put into words when you’ re talking about an agency of this dimension, a community of this size where some thing tragic like this happened just 7 months ago. ”

At least 18 officials across the United States have died during duty. At least 14 of the fatalities were caused by gunfire.
