But the president fired back upon Twitter Thursday, blasting the legal action, and Schneiderman for “ never” having “ the guts” to create the suit while he kept the post.

“ The sleazy Ny Democrats, and their now disgraced (and run out of town) The. G. Eric Scheiderman, are doing almost everything they can to sue me on the foundation that took in $18, 800, 000 and gave to be able to charity more money than it had taken in, $19, 200, 000. We won’ t settle this situation! ” Trump tweeted.

“ Scheiderman, who seem to ran the Clinton campaign within New York, never had the courage to bring this ridiculous case, which usually lingered in their office for almost two years. The suit furthermore claims that the foundation “ unlawfully provided extensive support to their 2016 presidential campaign by using the Trump Foundation’ s name and money it raised from the public to market his campaign for presidency. ”

“ As our investigation reveals, the particular Trump Foundation was little more than the usual checkbook for payments from Mister. Trump or his businesses in order to nonprofits, regardless of their purpose or even legality, ” Underwood said within a statement Thursday. “ This is not exactly how private foundations should function plus my office intends to hold the building blocks and its directors accountable for its improper use of charitable assets. ”

The spokesperson furthermore said that the foundation “ currently offers $1. 7 million remaining, that the NYAG has been holding hostage just for political gain. ”

“ This is unconscionable – particularly because the Foundation earlier announced its intention to melt more than a year and a half ago, ” a spokesperson for the foundation mentioned in a statement to Fox Information. “ The prior NYAG, who was lately forced to resign from office within disgrace, made it his stated objective to use this matter to not just advance his own political goals, also for his own political fundraising. ”
