Nikolas Cruz indicted on 17 counts of murder, jail records reveal odd behavior in days after Florida massacre

Fl school shooter Nikolas Cruz, in whose jail records show was unashamed, shameless and behaved oddly in the times following the massacre, was formally billed Wednesday with 17 counts all of premeditated murder and attempted killing.

The Broward County grand court announced on Wednesday the 34-count indictment for Cruz, who apparently opened fire inside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, killing 17 individuals. The attempted murder charges had been for the 17 other people injured within the mass shooting on Valentine’ t Day.

Within an entry on Feb. 17 — three days after the Parkland massacre — Cruz was noted since relaxed, cooperate, “ logical plus coherent” with a normal speech, prison records showed. The reports for that following days showed roughly exactly the same details. At times, Cruz is noticed “ lying on his back looking at the ceiling” and avoids fixing their gaze. Cruz appeared “ restless” and “ deep thought” other times.


The accused gunman continues to be visited by his attorney, their brother, and Rocxanne Dechamps, the girl with whom Cruz was thought to have been living with after his mom died.

Cruz’s brother, Zachary, visited upon Feb. 22, and again upon Feb. 24. Dechamps, a family buddy of the Cruz’s, also visited upon Feb. 24.

During a visit from their attorney six days after the fatal shooting, Cruz “ appeared to bust out in laughter both during plus immediately following his professional visit. ” Though he appeared engaged with all the attorney, Cruz responded in a “ calm and slow” manner whenever speaking to a doctor and nurse, information show.

On Feb. 24, the last entrance of the records, Cruz requested the Bible. He doesn’ t rest at night, according to the records, and rather “ twists and turns within bunk. ” He “ stares at wall in deep believed, eyes closed, appears to be resting [but] not asleep. ”

The particular jail records come weeks right after details of Cruz’ s troubled previous were released. Cruz was researched by social services and psychological health professionals in 2016 after troubling Snapchat videos belonging to him had been uncovered — but the teen prevented hospitalization and was deemed never to be a threat to himself or even others.

James and Kimberly Snead, the particular couple who took in Jones after his mother’ s loss of life, testified before a grand jury upon Wednesday.

Grand jurors heard testimony through witnesses before issuing the official indictment against Cruz.

“ I’ll just tell you that they were very supportive. The grand jurors asked very insightful questions and they answered these to the best of their ability, ” the particular Snead family’ s attorney, John Lewis, told reporters after the few testified. “They still don’ big t know what happened, why this occurred. They still don’ t have got any answers. They feel very terribly for everybody. ”
