Pelosi slams company bonuses as ‘crumbs’ despite once praising $40 tax cut

Home Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi upon Thursday slammed President Trump’ ersus tax reform that led to businesses giving as large as $2, 000 bonuses as “ breadcrumbs, ” despite praising Obama-era $40 tax cut to workers being a “ victory for America” this year.

Following the passage of sweeping taxes cuts, including lowering the corporate taxes from 35 percent to twenty one percent, multiple companies have provided bonuses and pay rises for the workers amid anticipating tax financial savings.

Businesses such as AT& T have provided $1, 000 bonuses to two hundred, 000 employees while at least sixty, 000 workers at Fiat/ The chrysler received bonuses worth up to $2, 000.

“ The bonus that corporate America obtained versus the crumbs that they are giving in order to workers to kind of put the schmooze on — it’ s therefore pathetic, ” she told reporters Thursday. “ I think it’ t insignificant. ”

Back in 2011, however , Pelosi was singing a different tune – praising a $40 payroll taxes cut passed by President Obama as “ a victory for everyone Americans” that will “ make a difference. ”

“ The American people spoke out there clearly and, thanks to President Obama’ s leadership, 160 million People in america will continue to receive their payroll tax cut – nearly $40 per paycheck in the pockets from the average family, ” she stated at the time. “ I salute the job of the unified House Democratic caucus on behalf of the American people. ”
