Rick Santorum Blames Absent Dads And Broken Homes For Mass Shooters

Rick Santorum , former Conservative senator from Pennsylvania, suggested that will absent fathers and broken houses could be part of the reason for mass shootings .

“ Gun control is a debate that individuals need to have, ”   Santorum stated on CNN’ s “ Condition of the Union” on Sunday.   However , he also said there was clearly “ another debate” we should possess, and that’ s “ the truth that these kids come from broken houses without dads. ”

“ Which is not something we’ re talking about which is the commonality, ”   Santorum said. “ We want to talk about points we can work together on? How about coming together to try to see what we can do to obtain more dads involved in the lives of the children. ”

Santorum has a history of making calumniatory comments about single mothers too.

“ What we have will be moms raising children in single-parent households simply breeding more crooks, ” he said in 1994 per Mother Jones.

Santorum also said single mothers simply needed politicians who weren’ big t afraid of  “ kicking them in the rear end . ” His plan at that time would’ ve denied benefits in order to women who did not identify the particular fathers of their children.

In 2011,   Santorum dismissively called single moms the base of the Democratic Party simply because they need government.

“ If you want to reduce the Democratic advantage, what you want to do is construct two-parent families , you get rid of that desire for government, ” he or she said at the time.
