Shooting reported at California high school, sheriff says

A suspect is at custody after a shooting was documented Friday morning at Highland Senior high school in Palmdale, Calif., the La Sheriff’s Office told Fox Information.

Officials said they received the call about a man with a weapon on the high school’s campus. Photos were first reported at about seven a. m. local time, that is a half hour before school had been set to begin, officials said.

The particular sheriff’s office tweeted one believe has been detained in connection to “the person with a gun… at Highland High school in Palmdale. ”

Firefighter-paramedics informed NBC Los Angeles they obtained a report of one person with a gunshot wound, though any injuries could not be independently confirmed. CBS Los Angeles reported a person who was hurt was self-transported to the hospital.  

Highland High School is located about 65 kilometers from Los Angeles. About 4, 500 students attend the high school. The college is on lockdown, students had been told to shelter in place plus parents were told to stay far from the area.

The sheriff’s SWAT team has been reportedly on the scene and about in order to enter the school just after 8 the. m. The Bureau of Alcoholic beverages, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives [ATF] tweeted that they had been responding to the incident.  

The particular sheriff’s office also tweeted they investigated reports of shots terminated near Manzanita Elementary School situated about seven miles from Highland High School but the campus and college was clear.
