‘SNL’ Now Has Its First Black Head Writer Since … EVER

Michael Che just broke the color barrier at “ Saturday Night Reside . ”

NBC announced Wednesday that Che was promoted to some head writer’ s position, producing him the first black person to get that title in the 43 periods of the comedy sketch show, according to reports .

Colin Jost, Che’ s partner on “ Weekend Update” and these days also referred to as Scarlett Johansson’ s boyfriend, seemed to be named a co-head writer ― a return to a post he kept from 2012 to 2015.

“ SNL’ s” current head authors, Bryan Tucker and Kent Sublette, will remain in their roles.

Che was obviously a correspondent on “ The Every day Show” before joining “ SNL” in 2013.   The Manhattan native continues to be named among Moving Stone’ s 50 Funniest Individuals, BuzzFeed’ s 50 Hottest Males in Comedy, and Variety’ h Top 10 Comics to Watch, according to their “ SNL” bio.

With Che’ s help, “ Saturday Evening Live” continues to pull in solid ratings. This season is the second most-watched in nearly a decade, at the rear of last year.
