Suddenly less popular than Trump, France’s Macron gets schooled

Believe President Trumps popularity is dropping fast? Frances new president, Emmanuel Macron, cant even give a f to his favorite teacher exactly who just happens to be his wife.

Exactly the same newspapers and magazines who lionized Macron for saving France from your specter of Marine Le Pencil, the populist who Macron conquered in May, now mock the 39-year-old as Jupiter because of the air associated with superiority he gives off in public. The poll last week showed his authorization rating at 36 percent, cheaper even than Trumps recent surprising 38 percent of support.

This week, Macron got the latest slap of disapproval from his own government, which declined his campaign pledge to give the standard title of First Lady in order to his wife, Brigitte, who at 64, is 24 years their senior. The two met when Macron was a high school student and she has been his teacher. Hmmm.

As in the United States, Frances constitution makes no mention of the function of a presidents spouse. Trying to modify that as one of Macrons first usa president actions was bound to rile community opinion. Even the governments spokesman messaged out, in plain French, as they say, No modification of the constitution, simply no new funding, no salary intended for Brigitte Macron. Stop the hypocrisy!

To put it differently, no apple for the teacher.

Macrons initial three months in office have not eliminated smoothly. His defense minister, Sylvie Goulard, stepped down in 06 after being accused of misusing funds to help her party. Twenty-four hours earlier, another minister quickly quit, under investigation for nepotism.

Macron did himself no favors whenever he decided not to continue the decades-old tradition of giving a information conference on July 14, Bastille Day, because his thoughts had been too complex for journalists to understand. That generated the kind of vicious head lines you but apparently, not Jupiter — might expect.

Perhaps Macrons the majority of unpopular move has been an effort in order to reform Frances byzantine labor program code, which makes it nearly impossible to fire or self-discipline workers, bypass unions, or improve pensions. Those unions, which backed Macron against Le Pen, responded with fury when he discussed tinkering with the code that gives all of them almost unlimited power.

Proof of how significantly the unions take their happy position: they even got employees to turn out for demonstrations in Aug, when all of France is on a break and official Paris comes to the near standstill.

If Macron is required to back down on his union-busting plan, Jupiter will once again be shown to possess feet of clay. Even a senior high school kid knows better than to wreak havoc on organized labor in France. Probably teenaged Macron was thinking about another thing the day that lesson was trained.
