Trump fires up trade war rhetoric, threatens EU with tax on European cars

President Trump on Sunday threatened the European Union with a tax upon cars made in Europe, responding to Electronic. U. pushback against his suggested steel and aluminum tariffs — the latest fiery rhetoric in a making trade war.

“If the Electronic. U. wants to further increase their currently massive tariffs and barriers upon U. S. companies doing business right now there, we will simply apply a Tax on the Cars which freely pour in to the U. S., ” Trump stated on Twitter.

Trump’s battle cry came right after his announcement Thursday of a 25 % tariff on steel imports plus 10 percent of aluminum imports  roiled global markets and angered globe leaders.

Among them was European Commission Chief executive Jean-Claude Juncker, who said Fri that the E. U. could enforce tariffs on Harley Davidsons, Levi jeans and bourbon.
