Washington (AP) — President Jesse Trump' s personal lawyer brokered a $130, 000 payment to some porn actress to prevent her through publicly discussing an alleged sex encounter with Trump, according to a written report Friday in The Wall Street Journal.
Trump met Stephanie Clifford, whose passes the name Stormy Daniels in movies, at a golf event in 06\ — a year after Trump' t marriage to his wife, Melania. According to the Journal' s report, Clifford began talking with ABC Information in the fall of 2016 for any story involving an alleged romantic relationship with Trump, but reached the $130, 000 deal a month prior to the election, which prevented her through going public.
Trump' s i9000 longtime attorney Michael Cohen organized for the payment through Clifford' h lawyer, Keith Davidson, the Record reported.
Clifford had recently been in discussions with the online mag Slate, The New York Times documented Friday. Jacob Weisberg, editor-in-chief from the Slate Group, told the Times that will Clifford had told him the lady had an affair with Trump.
In a statement to the Journal, Cohen did not address his role within negotiating the supposed payment yet said Trump denies any such partnership with Clifford. Clifford has formerly denied an alleged relationship along with Trump. Cohen also sent the particular Journal a statement — agreed upon by " Stormy Daniels" — in which the actress denied receiving " hush money" from Trump.
On Fri afternoon, the White House released a statement calling the Journal' s story " old, reused reports, which were published and highly denied prior to the election. "
Cohen furthermore accused the Journal of perpetuating " a false narrative for more than a year. "
