U2Calls Out Trump In Grammy Performance: Blessed Are The Shithole Countries’

U2 took on President Donald Trump   on Sunday in a “ resistance” -themed Grammy performance that happened on a barge with the Statue associated with Liberty serving as a dramatic background.  

In a pre-taped segment,   the band performed its brand new song,   “ Get Out Of Your own personal Way, ” in which frontman Bono sings:  

Fight back
Don’ t take it lyin’ lower, you got to bite back
The face of Liberty’ s starting to crack
She had a plan up to she got smacked in the mouth area
And it every went south

At the end of the song, Bono pulled out a bullhorn and stated, “ Blessed are the shithole nations, for they gave us the United states dream. ” Trump reportedly used that term to describe Haiti and some African countries while meeting with congress to discuss immigration.  

Before the portion, U2 was introduced by Cuban-born singer Camila Cabello ,   who  shared her family’ h immigration story   plus called for viewers to support young unrecorded immigrants, also known as Dreamers.
