Veterans Home of California in Yountville on lockdown after reports of shots fired, officials say

An equipped man took three hostages throughout an “active shooter situation” in a California veterans home Friday mid-day, a fire official said.

Earlier, this emerged the veterans home had been on lockdown after reports associated with shots fired.

FBI officials are enroute to the scene, KTVU documented, and are enlisting a SWAT group to negotiate with the gunman.

The Napa County Sheriff’ h Office said officials responded to the Veterans  Home associated with California in Yountville around ten: 45 a. m. local period and a shelter-in-place order was released.

Between fifteen to 20 shots went away at the facility, police said, in accordance to  KTVU .

“Law adjustment is at the Yountville Veteran’ ersus Home right now following reports associated with gunfire. The safety of our occupants, workers and the community is the top priority, ” the veterans  house said in a statement on Facebook . “We have activated our crisis response protocol and are cooperating along with law enforcement. Further official information is going to be provided by law enforcement when it is confirmed. inch

An official through the veteran’ s home told KFOR4 that it was unclear if the photos were fired from inside or away from building.

The Napa Valley Register reported an armed gunman, dressed up in black with body armor, came into the building and may have taken hostages.

There was simply no immediate information on injuries.

The California Road Patrol tweeted that they had been aware of the incident and had been working with officials to “bring the problem to a safe conclusion. ”

According to California  Section of Veterans Affairs , the particular Veterans  Home of California within Yountville dates back to 1884 and it is considered the largest veterans home within the U. S. with more than 1000 experienced from all wars dating back in order to World War II.
