We’re Averaging One School Shooting Every 60 Hours In 2018

A reported shooting at a Southern Florida high school on Wednesday signifies the country’ s  18th school shooting   of 2018, just forty five days into the year.

That’ t an average of one school shooting every single 60 hours thus far in 2018,   more than double the number of college shootings recorded in any of the earlier three years in that same period. Those people numbers are according to data published by the gun control advocacy firm Everytown for Gun Safety , which usually defines a school shooting every time a firearm is released on or around a campus.  

Details are still emerging as to what happened during Wednesday’ s capturing at Marjory Stoneman Douglas Senior high school in Parkland, Florida, but since 6: 30 pm.,   at least 15 individuals   had been reported deceased.

President Donald Trump provides spoken vaguely about the need to suppress shootings, saying after the Las Vegas massacre in October the fact that U. S. would start “ talking about gun laws as time passes . ”

Some three months later on, White House press secretary Dorothy Huckabee Sanders had little new info   on that subject matter.  

“ The president thinks that all Americans deserve to be secure in their schools and in their neighborhoods, ” Sanders said after a fatal school shooting in Kentucky final month. “ We’ ve attempted to crack down on crime throughout the nation. ”

Meanwhile, Congress is still researching loosening some gun control   restrictions .

Feb. 8:   The particular Metropolitan High School in New York City

Feb. 5:   Harmony Learning Center in Maplewood, Minnesota

Jan. thirty-one:   Lincoln High School in Philadelphia

Jan. 26:   Dearborn Senior high school in Dearborn, Michigan

Jan. 10: California State College in San Bernardino, California

At least  one shot had been fired , shattering a class room window. No students were wounded.

Jan. 4: New Start Senior high school in Seattle

Two pictures were  fired at the school   from outside the building. Simply no students were injured.

January. 3: East Olive Elementary College in St . John, Michigan

A man standing in the school’ s i9000 parking lot called 911 stating he was suicidal. He talked with a county official for several hrs on the phone, according to local press, but ultimately  shot himself   and died from a solitary gunshot wound.
