Yet, on the school’s website, this says, “ Imagine if every single day were International Women’ s Time. Meet Mount Holyoke, ” as well as boasts of being founded “ with a woman! ” in 1837.

While Mount Holyoke maintains it really is committed to its historic mission like a women’ s college, it states it recognizes that what it means to become a woman is always changing.

“ Traditional binaries around who counts as a male or female are being challenged by those in whose gender identity does not conform to their particular biology, ” the policy states.

The college formed a gender addition task force to assist with the adjustments.

Any kind of “ biologically born female” may apply for admission, but only a “ biologically born male” who “ identifies as other/they/ze and when ‘ other/they’ identity includes woman” then one who “ identifies as a lady. ”

But even with all the shields and changes, the college admits much more mistakes.

“ Classrooms are never neutral areas and are marked by the same inequalities, exclusion and power struggles which exist elsewhere in the world, ” the Comprehensive Training manual reads. “ The thing is not to claim a privileged room for the classroom that is somehow exempt from those dynamics, but to operate to eliminate them where we can, deal with them honestly when we cannot, and locate ways to listen and include all the students in equitable, just methods. ”

The school did not immediately respond to request comment.
