Duke of Edinburgh admitted to hospital

The Fight it out of Edinburgh has been admitted in order to hospital in central London designed for planned surgery on his hip, Buckingham Palace has said.

The particular surgery will take place on Wednesday on the King Edward VII Hospital within Marylebone.

Prince Philip, 96, retired from royal responsibilities last August.

The particular duke did not attend the Easter service at Windsor Castle upon Sunday, with his absence said to happen to be because of a hip problem.

He also missed two some other events at Windsor in latest days – last Thursday’s Regal Maundy Service and a parade upon 22 March to mark Knight in shining armor Andrew’s appointment as Colonel from the Grenadier Guards.

In the statement, Buckingham Palace said: “His Royal Highness The Duke associated with Edinburgh was admitted to California king Edward VII Hospital in London today, for planned surgery on his cool which will take place tomorrow.

“Further updates will be issued whenever appropriate. ”

The duke introduced his retirement in May 2017, right after decades of supporting the California king, as well as attending events for their own charities and organisations.

Abdominal surgery

A month later he was accepted to the private King Edward VII hospital as “a precautionary measure” following an infection arising from a pre-existing condition.

Their final solo engagement was upon 2 August last year, when he or she reviewed a parade of Regal Marines outside Buckingham Palace in the capacity as Captain General from the corps.

But he’s since appeared several times at events alongside the Queen.

The surgery comes ahead of the busy time for the royal household, with the Duchess of Cambridge because of give birth to her third kid this month, and the wedding associated with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in May.

Surgery at any stage associated with life carries risks.

But patients are not ruled out associated with surgery based on their age alone.

For patients such as Prince Philip, overall fitness is really a bigger factor than how outdated they are.

This is a decision between patient and doctor assessing the benefits and the risks from the planned procedure.

In general, frailty increases with age group and does increase the risks of main surgery.

We have no idea what type of hip operation Prince Philip is having.

Most cool replacement operations in the UK take place upon patients between the ages of sixty and 80.

Nevertheless , such operations do take place also later in life.

Back in 1995, The Queen Mother had a prosperous hip replacement at the age of 95.
