ICE Shuts Down Its Portland Office As Protests Over Family Separations Continue

Migration and Customs Enforcement’ s Portland office temporarily shut its doorways due to ongoing protests against the Trump administration’ s “ zero tolerance” immigration policy which leads to kids being separated from their parents.  

“ ICE operations at this location are temporarily halted due to security problems, ” an ICE spokesman stated Wednesday in a statement reported by  Oregon Public Radio stations . “ Normal operations will certainly resume once security concerns have already been addressed. ”

Dozens of protesters have been collected outside the office since Sunday, supporting signs and banners (some evaluating the agency to the Gestapo) plus setting up tents in light of the rollout of the new policy, which has intended that every person crossing the boundary at an unofficial point of access gets detained.
