Jimmy Kimmel defends mean-spirited dig at Melania Trump, apologizes for lewd Hannity joke

Following a heated back-and-forth between Jimmy Kimmel plus Sean Hannity, the late-night web host released a statement Sunday apologizing for a lewd shot at Hannity seen as mocking the gay local community — but Kimmel was unashamed, shameless about his controversial on-air comedies at first lady Melania Trump’s cost.

Kimmel’s message called for an end towards the ongoing feud, which started right after he delivered jokes making enjoyable of the first lady’s accent.  

In Sunday’s notice,   Kimmel wrote:  

“ I will take Sean Hannity on his word that he was really offended by what I believed but still believe to be a harmless and ridiculous aside referencing our First Lady’ s accent. Mrs. Trump most likely has enough to worry about without being utilized as a prop to increase TV rankings. ”

Kimmel continued:   “ We are hopeful that Sean Hannity learn from this too and continue their newly-found advocacy for women, immigrants plus First Ladies and that he will success in his heroic battle against intimate harassment and perversion. ”

The comic also drew backlash for a twitter update mocking Hannity’s connections to Leader Donald Trump, a tweet which was widely seen as anti-gay. The twitter update was quickly deleted, but  many fans still had been outraged .

In response to the tweet, Kimmel wrote: “ By lampooning Sean Hannity’ s deference to the Chief executive, I most certainly did not intend to belittle or upset members of the homosexual community and to those who took criminal offense, I apologize. ”

The twitter update was directly addressed to Hannity’ s Twitter account. The Sibel News host gave a limited  response to the particular tweet   within an hr of its posting.

“ Just had this particular pop up, ” he wrote and also a screen grab of a news notify about Kimmel’ s apology. “ I am at a tournament with the daughter. I’ ll have a complete and comprehensive response tomorrow upon Hannity. ”

Kimmel furthermore wrote:   “ While I actually admit I did have fun with our small back and forth, after some thought, We realize that the level of vitriol from just about all sides (mine and me included) does nothing good for anyone plus, in fact , is harmful to our nation. Even in 2018, the vile episodes against my wife and wishes intended for death on my infant kid are shocking and I encourage people who made them to give their terms and actions thought. I, as well, will give words more thought plus recognize my role in inciting their hatefulness. ”

While many of Kimmel’s fans praised the apology take note, many others still were not sold, activities that it didn’t read like a real apology.  

“This is not an apology. It sounds like you are trying to save your display from the poor ratings because very conservative will not be watching, ” one user had written .  

“So he apologizes towards the ‘gay community’ because of his laugh, but just can’t bring himself in order to apologize to the First Lady designed for his ‘harmless & silly aside’ (demeaning her) on how she speaks. This is is ‘vitriol’ that p—– everyone off to begin with and you this yet no apology, ” another mentioned .
