Nikolas Cruz showed no warning signs before Florida school shooting, say couple who took him in

The few who took in school massacre believe Nikolas Cruz months before final week’ s Florida shooting mentioned they had a “ monster residing under our roof” but noticed no warning signs the night before the bloodbath — despite the 19-year-old’ s good trouble in school, reports said.

Within an interview with the Sun-Sentinel upon Saturday, James and Kimberly Snead said they never saw the particular violent side of Cruz, yet recognized that the 19-year-old was frustrated about his mother, who passed away in November. The couple got opened their home to Cruz, who had been staying with a family friend, at their particular son’ s request.

“ We had this particular monster living under our roofing and we didn’ t know, ” Kimberly Snead, 49, said. “ We didn’ t see this particular side of him. ”

James Snead, forty eight, added that he and his wife didn’ t know what “ everything, everyone seems to know. ”

“ Everything everyone seems to know, we didn’ big t know, ”   Snead mentioned. “ It’ s as simple because that. ”


A series of reports have surfaced since the deadly shooting last Wed, including Cruz’ s history of chaotic threats and trouble in school. Johnson was suspended for one day within January 2017 after assaulting somebody, according to disciplinary records obtained by Sun-Sentinel. Four months previously, he got into a fight plus was suspended.

Florida’ s Department of youngsters and Families also received a written report that Cruz was cutting their arms in Snapchat videos.  

Whenever Nikolas Cruz was a student on Westglades Middle School, he had been constantly in trouble for insulting educators and staff, using profanity, bothersome behavior, unexcused absences and at minimum one fight.

His mother was known as in more than a dozen times meant for conferences and Cruz was often sent to counseling, according to the records.  

Kimberly Snead said she took Johnson to a therapist she was viewing five days before the 19-year-old apparently opened fire inside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, eliminating 17 people. She recalled Johnson saying he didn’ t such as medication, but was open to seeing the therapist.

When it came to Cruz’ s guns, the Sneads produced him lock them in a safe. Kimberly Snead said she thought the girl had the only keys to the secure, but believes Cruz made the copy for himself that the few didn’ t know about. The few noted how Cruz seemed lonesome, but didn’ t hear gossips about an ex-girlfriend or see any form of animal cruelty. Wayne Snead called the 19-year-old “ naï ve” and someone who seemed to be rotten by his mother before the girl death.

Kimberly Snead said she didn’ t see anything strange within the hours leading up to the deadly capturing. Cruz went to sleep around 7 p. m., woke up plus told Snead he didn’ to need a ride to school as they didn’ t go on Valentine’ s i9000 Day, according to the Sun-Sentinel. Cruz apparently texted the couple’ s boy during the Uber ride Cruz accepted the school moments before the shooting.


Cruz strolled into the high school with an AR-15 gun and fired at students plus faculty members while walking with the hallways. He attempted to blend in along with students fleeing the school after the massacre. He then went to a Walmart, plus bought a drink at a Subway prior to going to a nearby McDonald’s. He has been captured in a nearby neighborhood approximately one hour after the shooting.

Cruz was charged along with 17 counts of premeditated homicide in the deadly shooting. He produced his first court appearance upon Thursday and was ordered kept without bond.

He later confessed towards the shooting, according to court documents.
