Istanbul (AP) — A industrial airplane that skidded off the runway after landing in north Turkey dangled precariously Sunday away a muddy cliff with its nasal area only a few feet from the Black Ocean.
Some of the 168 people aboard the Boeing 737-800 described this as a " miracle" that everybody was evacuated safely from the plane, which usually went off a runway with Trabzon Airport.
Images display the aircraft on its stomach and perched at an acute position just above the water. If it got slid any further along the slope, the airplane would have likely plunged into the ocean in the Turkish province of Trabzon.
Pegasus Airlines said nobody was injured during the incident past due Saturday, despite the panic among the 162 passengers on board Flight PC8622. The particular six-member crew, including two fliers, was also evacuated. Flights were hanging at Trabzon Airport for several hrs before resuming again Sunday.
Passenger Yuksel Gordu told Turkey' s official Anadolu news company that words weren' t sufficient to describe the fear on the aircraft.
" It' s a miracle we escaped. We’re able to have burned, exploded, flown to the sea, " Gordu said. " Thank God for this. I feel such as I' m going crazy after i think about it. "
Another passenger, Fatma Gordu, told private Dogan news company that there was a loud sound right after landing.
" We swerved all of a sudden, " she said. " The front from the plane crashed and the back is at the air. Everyone panicked. "
Trabzon Gov. Yucel Yavuz said investigators had been trying to determine why the plane acquired left the runway. The prosecutor' s office launched an investigation.
The air travel originated in the Turkish capital, Ankara.
Airport terminal officials would not discuss the position of plane Sunday and regardless of whether it had been towed off the slope.
