‘Safe zone’ for women set up at Berlin New Year’s Eve event

New Year’s Eve celebrations within Berlin will see a “safe zone” for women for the first time in the city’s background.

Coordinators of the Brandenburg Gate party are usually hoping to prevent mob attacks just like those that occurred in Cologne 2 yrs ago.

Hundreds of women were attacked simply by gangs of men with migrant backgrounds during New Year’s Event celebrations in 2015.

The incident occurred after Germany had accepted a list influx of more than one million migrant workers.

The German funds will this year have a “safety zone” where Red Cross helpers will appear after women who feel bothered or threatened.

Additional safety precautions, which includes a ban on large bags, rucksacks, glass bottles and alcoholic beverages, will also be enforced.

Berlin police have released advice to women attending the particular celebrations, encouraging them to seek assist if they feel threatened and to prevent carrying a valuable bag.

About 500 safety personnel will be at the Brandenburg Door party, as well as more than 1, 500 extra police officers patrolling the city.

Hundreds of thousands of individuals are expected to turn out for the festivities.
