The Likely Lads actor Rodney Bewes dies

Rodney Bewes has died aged seventy nine, his agent has confirmed.

The actor had a profession spanning six decades and is most widely known for playing Bob Ferris within sitcom The Likely Lads.

His agent issued the statement saying: “It is with excellent sadness that we confirm that our beloved client, the much-loved actor Rodney Bewes, passed away this morning. ”

The statement compensated tribute to the actor, calling your pet a “true one-off” and a “brilliant storyteller”.

“He a new funny anecdote for every occasion. Our own thoughts are with his family and friends only at that sad time. We will miss your pet terribly. ”

Bewes had been originally from Bingley in Yorkshire but moved to Luton as a child.

Despite childhood asthma maintaining him house-bound until the age of twelve, he achieved his first function at the age of 14 and went on to analyze drama at RADA.

This individual gained fame in the 1960s plus 1970s playing Bob Ferris within the BBC sitcom The Likely Lads, and in its sequel, Whatever Occurred To The Likely Lads? – which usually drew audiences of up to 27m.

In 1984, this individual became a member of the Doctor Who cast throughout Peter Davison’s run as the Period Lord, portraying a humanoid called Stien in Resurrection Of The Daleks.

He died 6 days before he would have famous his 80th birthday.

Bewes is survived simply by his four children – Billy, Joe, Tom and Daisy — and his two grandchildren, Oscar plus Eliza.

Shane Allen, controller BBC Comedy, mentioned Bewes was “beloved as one 1 / 2 of the great British sitcom partnerships of time”.

He additional: “Audiences got to see him proceed from black and white to colour because the revival was a huge hit along with audiences of all ages. It’s one of the perfect great BBC sitcoms; timeless in the humour and will be enjoyed for decades in the future. ”

Tributes are also pouring in for the star upon social media.

Radio presenter Danny Baker explained The Likely Lads as “the gold standard” and “envy from the comedic world”.

Writer and actor Julian Dutton described Bewes as “a fine actor”.

Actor and comedian Ben Davis said Bewes starred within “landmark British sitcoms”.

And Olympic rower Matt Pinsent paid tribute to the acting professional, who he said used to brighten on crews at Henley.
