Trey Gowdy steps down from House Ethics Committee, citing ‘workload’

(CNN) Representative. Trey Gowdy stepped down through the House Ethics Committee this week right after five years of serving on the solar panel.

Whenever he was named Chairman of the home Oversight Committee in June, Gowdy asked House leadership to take your pet off of one of his four committees, according to a spokesperson for Gowdy.
“Four panel assignments, including a chairmanship, is really a challenging workload, ” Gowdy published in his letter.

Gowdy added, “I was happy to complete out the calendar year and consider some matters then pending prior to the committee. ”

Besides serving as chief of the House Oversight Committee, Gowdy acts on the Intelligence and Judiciary committees.
Ryan spokeswoman AshLee Strong also said Gowdy requested to be relieved of their duties from the Ethics Committee in the event that he won the Oversight Panel chairmanship given the increased workload.
“We are grateful for his 5 years of service on the Ethics Panel and for agreeing to serve the rest of the calendar year, ” she mentioned.
