Trump withholding millions in aid to Pakistan, as he accuses country of giving ‘safe haven’ to terrorists
The Trump administration has decided to withhold hundreds of thousands in military aid to Pakistan as the president accuses the Muslim-majority nation of harboring terrorists plus telling “ lies” to the United states of america.
“ The United States does not plan to invest the $255 million in [Fiscal Year] 2016 Foreign Army Financing for Pakistan at this time, ” a National Security Council recognized told Fox News on Mon.
The state added, “ The president made clear that the United States expects Pakistan to take decisive action against terrorists and militants on its dirt, and that Pakistan’ s actions supporting the South Asia Strategy may ultimately determine the trajectory in our relationship, including future security support. ”
The Trump administration will carry on and “ review Pakistan’ s amount of cooperation, ” the official said.
Previously Monday, President Trump, in his initial tweet of 2018, said that the us “ has foolishly given Pakistan more than 33 billion dollars within aid over the last 15 years, found given us nothing but lies & deceit, thinking of our leaders because fools. ”
“ They provide safe haven to the terrorists all of us hunt in Afghanistan, with small help. No more! ” the chief executive tweeted.
The New York Times reported a week ago that the Trump administration had been taking into consideration withholding $255 million in help to Pakistan to demonstrate its discontentment with how they confront terrorism within their country.
The administration already had postponed sending the aid in August.
