TV presenter Dale Winton dies aged 62

TV plus radio presenter Dale Winton offers died at the age of 62.

The former Supermarket Sweep host passed away at his home earlier on Wed, his long-term agent Jan Kennedy said.

Winton invested nearly a decade hosting the ITV daytime hit but also hosted the particular BBC’s lottery show In It In order to Win It and appeared within game show Hole In The Wall structure.

Graham Norton paid tribute , thanking him for giving your pet “the best bit of showbiz guidance I ever got – have a tendency quit the hit! “.

Buddy and fellow TV presenter Davina McCall described him as a “lovely, warm, kind, delicate, generous soul with a touch associated with naughty! ”

Comedian David Walliams said he was “heartbroken” to hear of the death associated with his friend.

Winton’s agent did not give details on the reason for death but said: “While we all know many will share this awful loss, we ask that you regard the family’s privacy at this time associated with grief. ”

Kate Phillips, controller entertainment commissioning at the BBC, said Winton had been “an immensely well-loved individual” plus praised his “wonderfully unique plus special energy” that he brought to TELEVISION programmes.

“He has been extremely kind, brilliantly funny plus was a true gentleman, ” the girl said.

Winton began his career as a DJ working in london leading to work on local radio.

In 1986 he became a member of BBC Bristol to present Pet Watch out for BBC One.

But his huge break came with ITV’s daytime display Supermarket Sweep, which he managed from 1993 to 2001 plus again when it was rebooted within 2007. Contestants on the show were tasked with running round a grocery store collecting items to win a money prize.

He continued to work on prime-time shows such as the National Lottery’s In It To Earn It and he hosted his own Xmas specials and celebrity guest displays.

More recently Winton, who had been known for his tanned appearance, produced a show for Channel 5 known as Dale Winton’s Florida Fly Generate. Channel 5 said the final shows were due to air in 06.

In an interview with the Moments in 2008, Winton spoke about coming out as homosexual at the age of 47.

He or she said he had not come out prior to because no-one had ever requested him.

Winton furthermore told the paper that he would certainly stay up every night until the earlier hours, writing material ahead of their then new BBC show Opening in the Wall.

“I’ve always been a grafter, ” this individual said.

Winton came to be in Marylebone, London in 1955. His mother, Sheree, who was a good actress, died from an overdose shortly after his 21st birthday.

He told ITV’s Reduce Women show in 2016 regarding his struggle with depression and mentioned: “I always thought, ‘Get more than yourself. ‘ But my mother died of it. It exists plus anybody out there who has had this knows it exists. I failed to want to put one foot ahead of the other but for a couple of really good buddies. ”

One of the close friends he named on the show as assisting him was Walliams, with Winton saying “he has kept me personally going”.

Other buddies and celebrity colleagues have compensated tribute to the TV star upon social media.

Singer and friend Child George – that appeared on Winton’s episode of the is Your Life in 2000 — said he was “shocked” to know of the death and described Winton as “a sweet man”.

Actor and speaker Sherrie Hewson , who caused Winton “many times” said: “So very sad about the gorgeous Dale Winton… 62 is no age it might be hard to believe he’s gone. inch

Bucks Fizz singer Cheryl Baker , who appeared in a celeb special of Winton’s show Another Half, said Winton was a “gorgeous bloke”.

Former Family Prospects host Les Dennis said Winton was “a beautiful, warm man who posed charm”.

TV presenter Paddy McGuinness stated: Winton was “the perfect host” and made showcasing look “effortless”.
